Crossing the Manhattan Bridge

I just found a few folders of images taken from New York just before we left to come home. In the madness of packing up our lives, resettling and getting back in to the Wedding photography season here in Melbourne I hadn’t found the time to go through them.

Here are a couple of photos from an afternoon/evening walk across the Manhattan Bridge. It seems kinda fitting that it took me until the last couple of weeks of our 2 years in New York to actually walk across the Manhattan bridge from BUMBO to Chinatown. The Manhattan Bridge is mainly neglected by the hoards of tourists coming through New York, who never fail to visit the Brooklyn bridge. Even the foot and bike traffic of Brooklynite’s heading to and from work on a daily basis is lower than on the Brooklyn Bridge.

Despite all this, I still think the scenes and views from the Manhattan Bridge are pretty amazing!

Oh, and don’t forget, even though we are back living in Melbourne, I’m still available to photograph weddings in Manhattan, Brooklyn and all through out New York :)

Hit me up with an email to discuss.

Wedding Photography of Simon + Amy. Five Front Restaurant DUMBO Brooklyn

I had so much fun hanging out and photographing Simon + Amy’s Wedding day! They are a really great, down to earth couple – a characteristic guaranteed to produce fun and beautiful photographs, which we managed to capture plenty of. Our day started off early in lower Manhattan, around the south street seaport where both S + A were getting prepared. I love photographing in this area and this time of morning was perfect as the wide, cobblestone-street were still quiet. The cobblestone streets help me to imagine what Manhattan was like all those years ago.

I had a great portrait session with the guys while the girls performed their finishing touches. We had a bit of a laugh and a strut down the alleyways. Once the girls were all ready we spent some time on the waters edge taking bridal party photos and family portraits with the backdrop of the Brooklyn Bridge before jumping on the water taxi over to DUMBO.

The ceremony at Five Front restaurant was great! It was an honest, heartfelt ceremony in the lovely outdoor section with beautiful trees and a big old, rustic brick wall as our backdrop. The reception was inside at Five Front restaurant, so Simon, Amy and I had some time to slip out and take some portraits through out DUMBO while the catering staff got everything prepared. Again, Simon + Amy’s fun, easy going approach to things made the session so much fun and my photojournalistic style really captured the love and joy that Simon + Amy have for each other!

Of course, it wouldn’t be a New York Wedding without some NYC subway photography. So, to wrap up the day the Bridal party and I jumped on the A line back to the South Street Seaport for a fun little photo shoot. It was a great way to end the day – laughter and smiles all around.

The Wedding Photography of Sydney + Rogelio in DUMBO Brooklyn

Sydney and Rogelio had a small group of friends with them when they took their vows on Friday at New York City Hall. But, it was the Saturday, on August 22nd that they were saving all the hurrar for. They celebrated their Wedding with friends and family at an awesome Willamsburg loft, come reception space. The three level space with an outside garden/patio and a large balcony area over looking the dance floor and various little sitting rooms was the perfect venue for the relaxed, laid back feel that Sydney and Rogelio wanted for their Wedding reception.  Sydney and Rogelio had his brother perform a ceremony that night for all their guests and they had help from other friends to make the day feel like their own with hand picked flowers, candles and homemade cupcakes (Yum!!) As is often the case in New York on an August day it was very hot and humid so we had decided to organise their photo session a few weeks later. So we met up for our photoshoot one September afternoon down in the always beautiful DUMBO. Here are a few of the photos from that session…

Photos from Igor + Khadijah’s DUMBO Wedding, Brooklyn New York

July 18th

Eat, drink and be Merry! That was all Igor and Khadijah’s wanted from their Wedding guests. On my first meeting with Igor and Kay I knew this would be a fun day with plenty of great photographs, the two of them are so joyful, easy going and they put a big emphasis on having fun. Needless to say, they are the type of couple I love to hang out and shoot with.

I met Kay and her bridesmaids for the bridal preparation photos and I’ll tell ya, there were some nervous, excited and anxious lady’s among the bunch!

The weather Gods kept up their end of the deal for the day. We had a beautiful sunny day for the ceremony in DUMBO at the Empire – Fulton Ferry Park. It was an afternoon ceremony that kicked off just as the sun began to dip under the Brooklyn Bridge. It goes without saying that it’s a stunning area with views of both the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges. The park is one of Brooklyn’s most popular Wedding photography locations!

The reception venue was super cool and all of Kay and Igor’s guests were treated to some superb West Indian food!! After which the dance floor was cleared and the fun really got going!

Enjoy the photography…
